June Monthly Challenge: Watercoloring Background

June Monthly Challenge: Watercoloring Background

Hi Crafty friends! In keeping with this month’s challenge of making cards with supplies I already have, this card features a watercolor backsplash made ink smooshing and water.

I made a bunch of watercolor backgrounds and held them aside in a box. I used Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink TRIO 5 and Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink TRIO 2 for this background. The watercolor paper is Ranger’s Distress watercolor paper. I trimmed my piece to 3-3/4″ x 5″ and I added Scrapbook.com’s 2mm double sided ahesive tape to the back for dimension. I used one of my Cuttlebug embossing folders for the cardbase.

To dress the panel up, I added greenery die cuts from Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers “Greenery” die set. One piece I diecut with white cardstock, the other with gold metallic paper. The center piece was ink blended with Simon’s “Pearfection” Pawsitively Saturated ink with a little addition of my white gelly roll pen. I love this greenery die set so much!

Check out these posts here, here and here where I used my gel press and this die set to make boho-themed cards!

I shot the card under different lighting conditions so you can see the pretty gold metallic.

The Hello sentiment is a die I’ve used a ton of times by Pink Fresh Studio. This time what I did was die cut the shadow with the letters on white cardstock. This left an opening for me to die cut just the letters on the gold metallic paper and paper piece them into the white die cut piece.

And that was all I had to do to bring this card to life!
