June Monthly Challenge: Use what’s in my Stash

Monthly Challenge: Use what's in my Stash

I’m giving myself a new challenge, hopefully each month with regards to my paper crafting. I thought that by challenging myself, it’ll help me stay creative in some way regardless of how busy my life is. Crafting is therapy for me and I’ve talked about that here if you want to read my story.

This month’s challenge: use my stash

How many times do we crafters buy products, use them once or twice then they go to a file never to be seen again?! Don’t worry, I’m with you! I had to stop and take a real good look at my budget. I was spending hundreds of dollars a month on new products. It adds up! And because this is a hobby, not a job, I couldn’t financially afford to keep up with the new releases.

I’m not giving up on buy new products, but just for this month I aim to not purchase or very little if I do need to buy something. So, for this month, I made 2 very different cards using products from Concord & 9th, Lawn Fawn, Simon Says Stamp and Pinkfresh Studio. I won’t go into detail of how I made these cards because most of the elements were created months ago and set aside in folders. I’ll link to as many of the products used as I can!

This first card I ink blended a rainbow using the “Lawn Clippings” slimline stencil from Lawn Fawn on the entire cardbase, even on the inside with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Lemonade and Watermelon. It’s a landscape side-folding card.

I used Lawn Fawn’s “Beary Rainy Day” stamp and coordinating die set. I colored the bears and clouds with Copics and stamped the sentiment. These bears are so cute!

This last card is from Concord & 9th’s “Freshly Picked” Die and Stamp set. The background is “Modern Mosaic” cover die plate from Pink Fresh Studio. I love die cutting all the fruit and that basket too! I did some ink blending on both the basket and the fruit with Distress Inks. Finally I added some details on the strawberries with my white #10 gelly roll pen. I loved playing with this set so much that I die cut and made extra strawberries for future cards! 😀

It was fun shopping my own stash for this month’s challenge! I plan to continue this for the rest of this month.

Next month’s challenge will be: Finish Making that Card! I came up with this idea, because I have made cards and got 80 to 90% done but for some reason never finished and it’s been sitting in my drawer, a folder, wherever waiting for me to complete. Stay tuned for that!
