Stenciling and Die Cutting Flowers

Stenciling and Die Cutting Flowers

I made these 3 cards weeks before I got sick and I’m so glad to finally be able to share them. I love these flowers from the Altenew “Beauty Within” collection. I have the stencils, stamp and die but I only used the stencils and dies for my cards. Check out this post to see how I incorporated them into another stamp set.

For today’s cards, I chose to use Simon’s Pawsitively Saturated Inks for my flowers. Color chosen for my yellow flowers were: “Sunbeam” and “Citrine”. And for all the centers, I went with Espresso by Pinkfresh Studio but also I took the center die from Honey Bee Stamps “Anemone” Lovely Layers set because I wanted a more dramatic look.

For the leaves for all my cards, I didn’t use the stencils, instead I stamped them and colored them with Copics. My green go to markers are YG67 and YG25 for leaves.

For my orange flowers, I chose the ink colors: “Grapefruit” and “Mandarin”.

Now for my teal flowers, I made a boo-boo but I kept it in and I really do love how it turned out. I chose “Ocean” and “Surf” but I accidentally added green from another blending brush. I tried to blend it in but you can see it’s pretty prominent. However, I do like the two-color combo so I went with it!

After I finished all my coloring, I die cut the flowers out and glued them to the leaves to make all 3 clusters. Then, I set them aside to begin working on the background.

For my backgrounds, I chose one of the stencils from Vicki Boutin’s “Sweet Rush” stencil set and I use the same ink colors to match my flowers. I went heavy in the center and lighter as I blended outward to the edges of the card panels.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment (no longer available) from Hero Arts. Then, I put all my cards together. Love how each one turned out!
