Rustic Floral Christmas Card

Rustic Floral Christmas Card

Hey Crafty friends, in this post I’m sharing a Christmas card where I used some unconventional colors. I’m usually a traditional girl who loves reds, greens and golds for Christmas, however I’m stretching myself to go out of my comfort zone.

So, I started by diecutting a bunch of flowers and blooms from 2 separate die sets by Spellbinders. I used the Mini Sprigs & Blooms along with the Perfect Layered Blooms. I’ve used these 2 sets many times and I just love them! There’s so many types of florals you can make.

So, after about a couple of hours of die cutting florals, I die cut a bunch of wooden frames with Honey Bee Stamps “Wood Builder” die set. This is another favorite of mine! It comes with all the pieces to make wood frames A2 size and smaller. You can create a more narrow opening or wider. For my card, I went with the A2 size (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) and wider opening.

I wanted a rustic look to my card so by using Tim Holtz Distress (Vintage Photo), I gently rubbed the ink pad over my wood die cuts. I die cut 4 pieces for all 4 sides so it really gives this card some serious dimension.

For my florals, I die cut them with purple, green, lilac, green and white cardstock papers. For my sentiment, I chose WPlus9’s “Most Wonderful” Sentiment stamp stamp set using Pinkfresh Studio’s “Sapphire” ink pad. Typically, I wouldn’t think to use purple and at first I wasn’t even sure how this card would turn out. But, I’m learning to keep going even when I’m having second thoughts about my design.

In the end, I really like this card!! I had so much fun playing with the placement of my florals. For some I propped up using foam squares and others I just used liquid glue. Finally, I wrapped some jute from the inside to the side of the card and tied a bow.

What do you think of my card today? Happy crafting and thanks for reading!
