Every now and then I try to practice my Copic coloring! In fact, not long ago I challenged myself to color and fussy cut some snowmen from Simon Says Stamp “Snowmen” set and ended up loving them so much that 2 cards were born from that exercise, jump to that post here if you’re interested.
For today’s card, I was shopping my crafty stash and came across some watercolor cards (Suzy’s Winter Thanks Watercolor Cards) and decided to use my Copic markers and see where my coloring would take me. Because these cards are on watercolor paper, it took my Copic markers well without bleeding over.
As I was coloring, at first I wasn’t liking my results. I think that my thoughts kept turning back to the previous color exercise where I LOVED those 3 snowmen. But truth is, every coloring session is different. You’ll never get the exact same results so I kept going and by the time I was done, I began to like the card better.
I added snow effects with my white gel pen and added white flicks of paint (Distress Picket Fence) all over the top of the card. I masked off the snowmen cause I didn’t want any droplets on them.
NOTE: I used the exact same Copic colors as in my previous post here → “Practicing my Copic Coloring“
I depended a lot on my Copic 0 colorless blender for when I accidentally went outside the lines. I know this card isn’t perfectly colored but I still thought it was cute enough to share my progress as I’m still learning how to Copic color.
