Easter Cards with Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers Part 2

Hey friends! Today is Part 2 of my Easter Cards post with Honey Bee Stamps Lovely layers Dies collection, check out yesterday’s post here with the Easter Lily die set. I am so in LOVE with Honey Bee’s Lovely Layers collection.

As I talked about in Part 1, I found my voice finally in cardmaking and it is just sooo cool to have what I love be a big part of my crafty hobby! It’s a dream come true. Today’s cards are using the “Tulips” die set and I used a different color method this time. For my leaves, I also added Honey Bee’s “Greenery” Lovely Layers die in!

I started off by die cutting the tulip dies on Bristol Smooth Paper. It takes water really well. Then I used my Zig Clean Color Markers in (darkest to lightest) “Orange”, “Bright Yellow”, “Yellow” and “Lemon Yellow”. For the leaves, I used two colors: “Olive Green” and “Light Green”. I started with the darkest color at the bottom of the petals and then added my lighter colors up the petals and then with my waterbrush pen did all my blending.

After my die cuts dried, I spritzed some water droplets with my Distress Sprayer. I also air dried all the pieces, didn’t use a heat tool!

I colored my leaves same as with the flowers and set everything to dry. Meanwhile, I worked on my background design. I wanted a wood look so I stamped WPlus9’s “Wood Planks” stamp set, which comes with 2 stamps, and Distress Ink “Vintage Photo”.

All 3 cards have a different frame behind the Tulip. The card with the “Alleluia” sentiment uses Pinkfresh Studio’s Scallop Die (frame and positive die cut piece), the card above I just used a rectangle nested die set and cut 3 total pieces for dimension. The card below also uses Pinkfresh Studio’s Scallop Die (this set comes with 2 die sizes). I cut the center piece 3 times to have it sit on top of the scallop frame.

For my sentiments, I reached for some gold foiled sentiments from my stash. I had foiled these a long time ago on my Mini Minc machine with some of Simon Says Stamp’s Easter Reverse sentiment strips on gold Deco foil. Because those sentiment strips are laser printed, you can foil with them!

I played around with placement for awhile, because I wanted the entire tulip on my cards. I didn’t want to cut off any excess pieces. Oh, btw, for the centers of my tulips, I die cut that piece 3 times too! Plus, a couple of the flowers have double-sided foam squares behind the petals for added dimension. My heart is so happy with all 3 of these cards! Happy crafting friends!
