Hi my friends, I hope your day is going splendid! Today, I’m sharing 3 cards using again the Stamperia “House of Roses” Paper pack! Check out my last post with these papers, this pack is so full of pretty images.
For my birdhouses, I went again with Honey Bee Stamps A2 Birdhouse builder die set. I LOVE this set! Along with it, I die cut a bunch of birds from Spellbinders “Sweet Birds on a Branch” and the Mini Sprigs and Blooms dies. All of these products are some of the best buys I’ve spent! They more than have paid themselves back for how many times I reach for them.
What determines my design?
Sometimes, it’s the colors in the pattern papers when I decide to use them for my backgrounds. For today’s cards, I chose 3 of the patterns from the pack. Then, I picked 3 Copic markers matching the colors as closely as possible which are W4, RV11 and RV34.
I die cut all the pieces for my birdhouses and I wanted a lot of dimension so I cut about 4 pieces for the top and bottom roof pieces (refer to the pics below) on white cardstock for all 3 houses for a total of 24 pieces! LOL! I glued all these pieces together and set aside. I colored all my birdhouses with my Copics using an up and down brushstroke and not too heavy of a hand.
I added the heart and circle to decorate the birdhouses and added the door knobs and border around the door as well. When I was coloring the houses, I masked over the door with plain cardstock because I wanted it to remain white. Next was coloring my birds and using the same Copic colors, but I played with making different patterns on the birds. So fun!
After everything dried, I glued my birds to the greenery (I typically die cut a bunch of these leaves and store them in a container) and placed them around the birdhouses with a few foam squares and sometimes liquid glue.
For the borders around my cardbases, I die cut that with Kraft cardstock from Lawn Fawn with Pinkfresh Studio’s Scalloped die set using both dies through the machine to cut the middle leaving the border to offset the backgrounds.
I felt the cards needed something else, so I added some grass. Awhile back, I purchased a 3-slimine die set of grass from AZ and I love these dies so much. I die cut the grass with 2 different green cardstock papers, added a little detail with my Pentel green markers. I trimmed them down to 4-1/4″ and used 2 foam squares on each end because the birdhouse has a lot of dimension already and I needed the grass to sit flat and straight.
Lastly, the sentiments! I shopped my stash and found I had hot foiled sentiments with Spellbinders Hot Foil sentiments on their Hot Foil Glimmer System. So, I die cut them out using Simon Says Stamp’s Labels die set and adhered them to my cards with foam squares. And, these beautiful cards came to life! I SOOO LOVE how they turned out!
The sentiments are a little hard to read cause it‘s hard to photograph foil! Wish you could see these cards in real life!
