Celebrating a Special Birthday

Celebrating a Special Birthday

I don’t often talk about myself on this blog because primarily I want it to be all about cardmaking and paper crafting. However, I’m breaking the rule today to share a very special birthday coming! I’ll be turning 59 (the last of the 50s) and reason it’s special is because I’m a miracle. If you’ve been following me for a really long time, you probably know my story but in case not, here’s a link to my faith-based blog, “Growing Up in Grace” where you read my full testimony.

In a nutshell, I survived many suicidal attempts and attacks and to top that off, I’m the last living relative in my family. I never thought for a second that I would outlive everyone especially my little brother who was 5 years younger than me. Obviously, God had other plans for me. I’m trying to follow His lead for my life and using the talents He’s graced me with.

My birthday is on the 25th but like my mother used to do, I celebrate the entire month! LOL! I wanted to do something special and I imagined having a bunch of balloons hanging from the ceiling in my craftroom. Now, dreaming and actually doing it are two different things and I admit I didn’t think it all through! There were some logistical concerns that we had to address. That said, I got it done!

I craft and work in a small space so hanging the balloons up was a bit tricky but I took my time!

And I think I blew up about 35 balloons! Yes, I did it all myself :D, I really wanted to feel like a princess when I open my door to come in every morning!

I have curtains hanging throughout my space to add separation from my work/office and for my lounge area. The room size is about 9 x 9 square foot and so organization is key to keep all my supplies intact and so that the room isn’t so cluttered.

I bought a few bags of yellow, white and pink balloons from Dollar Tree and have a bunch left. I’m not sure how long these will last before deflating, I hope they’ll be around on the 25th at least! But for now, I’ll just enjoy looking up!
