More Alcohol Inking over Acetate for a Dramatic Look

Hey Crafty friends! Today, I have 3 more cards that I made with a favorite technique of mine, alcohol inking over acetate! I LOVE this way of making cool backgrounds that can be used on cards on many ways!

Today, I added my backgrounds behind a circle embossing folder that also die cuts the heart portion out. It’s the Sizzix Impresslits Embossing Folder Bohemian Heart that’s unfortunately been discontinued. But of course, you could use any shape die you have to pair with these backgrounds!

I’ll have the list of colors used for each background later in the post. If you’ve never tried alcohol inks over acetate, I highly recommend it! I have a post here and here that you can also check out!

I actually did all my alcohol inking on 1 full 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of Acetate using a bunch of colors and I just played with moving all the inks around my acetate with my Conair hair dryer on the lowest setting and blending solution.

All of the alcohol ink colors come from Tim Holtz’s 2020 15-set collection. I used my Conair Hair dryer so definitely be sure you use heat resistant acetate for this technique. I used blending solution as well.

Colors for all my cards were: Rosewood, Sienna, Rust, Dijon, Moss, Laguna, Pitch Black, also added Sterling and Gilded Alloys.

After I was done with the alcohol inking, I set the acetate sheet aside to work on the sentiments.

For the main sentiment, I went with Simon Says Stamp “Hibiscus” set. It has several phrases that come with shadow die so I used “Caring Thoughts“, the secondary sentiment is also from that set. I stamped that and used Simon’s sentiment strip die to cut out.

I then trimmed my acetate down into A2 size to behind the heart.

I love a good clean and simple design with a pop of color!
