Ink smooshing is a staple technique in my crafting. It makes for some quick backgrounds but also adds an artistic flair to my cards. I needed to make some Thank you cards and this method didn’t disappoint to add a neat background.
There’s a few ways to do ink smooshing, for my 2 cards I’m sharing today I used a piece of acetate to apply my ink pads and then applied the acetate sheet to my watercolor panels.
You’ll see by both card designs that I applied my ink differently and that’s part of the fun of ink smooshing. The card below, I took a more controlled approach to where I wanted my ink colors to go. They overlap a little but not as much as the card above.
I chose Distress traditional ink in “Picked Raspberry”, “Mustard Seed” and “Peacock Feathers”, these 3 colors blend very well. I also used Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper on the smooth side to do my ink smooshing.
I let both panels air dry and meanwhile I worked on my sentiment.
I die cut the “Thank You” several times for dimension. This die is from Pinkfresh Studio and I’ve used a lot! The letters are die cut from black cardstock from my stash. I didn’t add any embellishments to let the beautiful watercolor backsplash take center stage! These cards came together so fast and they are so pretty!
