“Boho-Abstract”-Inspired Backgrounds for Making Multiple Cards Quickly

"Boho-Abstract"-Inspired Backgrounds for Making Multiple Cards Quickly

I am always amazed where inspiration comes from! Last weekend, I made a bunch of backgrounds inspired by Carissa Wiley from “Sprinkled with Glitter”. She made cards that she titled, “Abstract Backgrounds“! Check out her post here! I loved the boho colors she used.

Anyways, I took out some distress inks and my brayer to make my backgrounds. I made a total of 5 cards each with its own sentiment. I love boho colors so I really tried to match what I had to the ink colors Carissa used.

Like Carissa did, I also used the direct to paper technique for some of my cards while others I just used my brayer applying the ink in different directions to make unique designs.

Dressing up the Card Designs

After that, I trimmed them and some white cardstock sheets down to 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″. I wanted a wider border for my card bases so adhered 2 cardstock sheets to the back of each of my panels. Then, I looked through my stash and found some really nice sentiments. Some I stamped with Simon Says Stamp’s “Khaki” ink and others with their “Intense Black” ink. I think the black shows up better on the cards and then tied some jute around a few cards. I hardly ever add jute to cards but I love the look!

From there, I wanted to add some greenery so I die cut a bunch of leaves from My Favorite Things and Honey Bee Stamps on white cardstock and positioned them on my cards.

I kinda got stuck here as I didn’t know what else to do. I felt like something was missing.

My cards seemed to need something else, but I didn’t know what. So, I put them aside and decided not to finish them until I knew what that something something was!

Well, hubby and I took a trip to our local Dollar Tree (I think a day or 2 after this) and that’s when I saw these beautiful butterflies with the same color palette I used on my cards! In addition, they have some gold foil on them and come in various sizes!! I couldn’t wait to get home to add them to my cards!

Look at how beautiful they turned out!

The Distress Ink colors I used were: Old Paper, Speckled Egg, Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet and Wild Honey

I have a BUNCH more backgrounds with this color palette and butterflies to use up! PLUS, I made more backgrounds with a different color palette that I can’t wait to turn in to cards and share so stay tuned for that!

This shows me that inspiration can come from anywhere! I so love our cardmaking community and how we all inspire, encourage and cheer each other on! It’s a terrific industry and I feel so blessed to be part of it 🙂
