My First Platform Pop-up Card

My First Platform Pop-up Card

Hey Crafties, I’m so excited that I made my first platform pop-up card! Now, this is my prototype, obviously I want to make more to get comfortable with it. I’ve been watching Lawn Fawn’s videos on their platform pop-up die set for awhile. It was out of the stock for awhile and so when it came back in, I jumped on it!

I’ll admit, I messed up the first one I made, but it’s okay 🙂 I also got the pop-up add-on so I could add the backing too. Three things I learned right off the bat about making this card: (1) I think it helps to have all your die cut images ready to go ahead of time, (2) mark with a pencil on the pop-up areas that require tape adhesive. This way, you won’t forget where to add the tape to put it together; and (3) Be careful how high up you add the die cut decorations if you want the card to fit in an A2 envelope. It, of course won’t matter if you’re making a larger size card.

So, for my prototype example, I die cut flowers on pattern papers cause it was quick to do to make the card!

The butterfly is very special and I’ll be sharing more about it and how I made in an upcoming post!

I used some pattern papers also for the pop-up card itself. The sentiment I stamped comes from Hero Arts that I’ve used many times! I used Simon Says Stamp’s “Pawsitively Saturated” Ink color “blush”.

The card fits perfectly inside an A2 envelope and here are a couple of pics of the card flat how it comes out of an envelope!

Final note: I purchased that “Push Here” stamp set and it’s helpful for the recipient to know how to pop the card up when they receive the card. If you’ve not made a platform pop-up card, I urge you to try it out. There’s a bunch of videos by cardmakers showing how to use it and Lawn Fawn has a bunch of tutorial on their YT channel as well.

I initially purchased this pop-up die set with the add-ons for making some Christmas cards but I can see that there’s so many other uses for it and can’t wait to try out other designs!
