Christmas Winter Birdhouses

Christmas Winter Birdhouses

Hey friends! Today’s cards features Spellbinders Birdhouses through the Seasons “Spring” die set. I’ve used this die so many times as I have the entire collection, check out this post where I made 4 cards!

I absolutely adore birdhouses and out of this die collection, the Spring birdhouse is my favorite! But, I wanted to turn it into a winter scene. So after die cutting, I ink blended the birdhouses with Distress Traditional Ink colors, “Antique Linen”, “Picket Fence” and “Misty Coast”. For the roof and fence, I used “Old Paper” with “Antique Linen”. For dimension, I die cut each piece 3 times and glued them together.

I love the blending of these inks so that the birdhouse isn’t just a flat white color. After doing that, I die cut the greenery and florals on various assorted cardstock but I did some ink blending on them as well. For this I went with Pinkfresh Studio’s inks. These florals are from Spellbinders and the green trees are from Honey Bee Stamps.

The greenery is “Olive” and “Evergreen”. The florals are just one color, “Passion Fruit”. The centers I die cut on white. I put my floral clusters together on my craft mat, but I didn’t glue anything, I just used Press ‘N Seal to keep them together while I worked on the background.

For the background, I reached for WPlus9’s “Wood Planks” stamp set. It is a staple in my crafty stash. I stamped my card panels using “Warm Buff” ink by Pinkfresh Studio.

Once my card panels were done, that’s when I glued my florals pieces together and laid them on the card panels. I deliberately put them on an angle for interest.

To add some ink splattering to my cards, I used white acrylic paint from Dollar Tree with a tiny paintbrush and a clear block to create a snowy scene.

Lastly was my sentiment and I again reached for a staple, Pinkfresh Studio “Classic Holiday” word die set. Die cut the shadow on black cardstock and letters on white and with some black foam squares, I added the sentiments on the cards and all done!
