Fun Coloring with Stencils

Fun Coloring with Stencils

Hi my friends! Today, I’m revisiting an oldie but goody stencil from Hero Arts, “Bold Daisy”. Unfortunately, it’s been discontinued, so sorry about that. Stencils, however, makes me feel like I’m a real artist. As you know, coloring is not my strong suit so ink blending with stencils is my absolute jam!

For all my cards today, I used Simon Says Stamp’s Pawsitively Saturated Inks “Watermelon”, “Surf”, “Citrine” and “Mandarin”. These inks are just wonderful for ink blending. And, this is a one-layer stencil so no layering. Plus, I didn’t even mask over my florals on the stencil when changing ink colors. It was just fun coloring them!

Once I finished all the ink blending, I used Waffle Flower Crafts A2 Layers die set to cut my panels. Two of the cards, you’ll see an overlay technique where I die cut a few rectangles and glued them together then placed it in the center of my panel which shows a lot of dimension on the pattern. The other two cards, I just cut a larger rectangle to act as a border and I stamped my secondary sentiment onto it.

You can see how sweet that overlay effect looks with all that dimension. I die cut the “Hello” word die by Pinkfresh Studio, but I stamped the sentiment first. This sentiment came from the Hero Arts March 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit.

I added some Pinkfresh Studio’s Jewel mix gems to some of the flower centers.

With these 2 cards, I just die cut a larger rectangle to be the border for my sentiments. The “Friend” also comes from Pinkfresh Studio and the secondary sentiment is from Hero Arts “Lavender Field” Color Layering Scape stamp set. The gems here are also from Pinkfresh Studio’s jewel mix.

I used my scoreboard to add scoring to the panels, not sure you can see it from the photos. This is a technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire. I added score lines to the backs of the panels. Also, I decided to make this design a side-folded landscape card. I love changing things up from time to time.

I really love how these cards look!
